IEDUL FITRI CELEBRATION 2011

Eid al-Fitr falls on the first day of Shawwal; it marks the end of the month of Ramadan. It is also a time to give in charity to those in need and unfortunate. On this special day, the Muslims indulge in traditional activities aside from celebrating with their dear ones. 

In Indonesia, we also shared the happiness of this special month with our orphans and also the poor. We could not imagine how sad these orphan since they have to celebrate this special day without their loving ones, or the needy family who celebrate Eid with all the limitation. Therefore, we wished that we could share the joy and happiness with them in this special day. And praise be to Allah, with the generous support from Brother Yusuf Islam and his family, we could conduct this occasion.

The celebration was hold on 25 September 2011 and divided into two sections, in the morning and in the afternoon because the space in our office was very limited to gather all orphans and their families in the same time. We started from 9 o’clock until 12 in the morning and from 14 o’clock until 17 in the afternoon.

In this occasion, we gave cash money for 140 orphans, each of them got 14 euro and for 7 needy families, each family got 30 Euro. During the celebration, we also served cake, drink and fruit for all to eat. And especially for orphans, we distributed school packet which include books, pencil, pen, ruler, and sharpener for 140 orphans. We decided to give school packet because the children are in new semester in school, so it can be useful for them. In additional to that, short lecture was given for orphans and their mothers before they took the money.

And praise be to Allah, with the support of everyone, we could share the happiness of Eid al-Fitr for this year with the orphans and the less fortunate on that day. The orphans’ mothers were very grateful for the cash payment and additional support from our office. With the help received on a regular basis, the orphans’ mother can keep their children in school.

Meanwhile, we delivered our grateful to Allah who has blessed us with this precious time, and also our deepest gratitude to Brother Yusuf Islam and his family for the continuously support given to our orphans. May Allah always bestow him and his family with good health and prosperity.
